July 22 – Bake Sale to Benefit Concerts at Ferndale Library

July 22 – Bake Sale to Benefit Concerts at Ferndale Library

FERNDALE, MI – The Ferndale Library knows that the community it serves particularly favors live music experiences. The upcoming Library Bake Sale on July 22 aims to maintain the excellence of one of its most popular programs: the Summer Concert Series, which brings in big-name artists like Joe Hertler, Ronny Tibbs, and many more notables from years past like Dan John Miller, Musique Noire and more!

Patrons can stop at a bake-station next to the circulation desk before checking out their books, where they’re assured to encounter a range of cookies, cupcakes, scones, and potentially some pie! These delicious baked goods are lovingly whipped up by local volunteer chefs: i.e., library patrons who put together a prepared container, baggie, or plate of dessert-items freshly baked the day before. This 1-day-only pop-up bakery in the library will feature addictive little treats to ornately adorned desserts, available all day (10am-8pm), July22.

But volunteer bakers are needed. Volunteer bakers can drop off their donated treats on Sun., July 21, from 12 pm to 5 pm, or they can submit prepared trays / bagged goodies in the library atrium on the morning of the bake sale, starting at 9 am and continuing throughout the day.

Ferndale Library’s Head of Circulation Kelly Bennett will be coordinating the Bake Sale; volunteers can email via kelly@ferndalepubliclibrary.org or call at 269-932-3179. “We’re always grateful for the variety and creativity that volunteers have put into their baked goods, and it’s always great to have a vegan option.  But most of all, we’re just grateful that this opportunity can bolster the excellence of one of our favorite annual events! Whatever you can bring, be it cookies or brownies, we appreciate it if the items are split up into smaller packages ahead of time for easy sale.”

To Ferndale’s local bakers, or for anyone with a sweet tooth, this is a great way to support your library, as well as your community. The baking talents of the neighborhood take center stage. Also, each sugary package or decadent dish could serve as an ideal gift, or maybe just a well-deserved splurge for you after a long day. “We appreciate the support of local bakers or folks who just want to grab some cookies or muffins with their checkouts,” said Bennett. Simply bring your goodies to the front desk on Sunday, or stop in the atrium beginning at 9 am on Monday. For those looking to buy the yummy baked goods Ferndale has to offer, the sale will run 10 am to 8 pm on Mon., July 22. Cash and check will be accepted as payment. And, yes, there will be jam!
