July 15 – Ferndale Library Space Themed Glow in the Dark T-Shirt Making for Adults

FERNDALE, MI – In the summertime we tend to stay out later into the evening and enjoy Michigan’s all too brief “t-shirt weather,” so why not do it in-style with a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt? Part of Ferndale Library’s Adult Summer Reading series of events, the “By The Light of the Moon” design workshop on Monday, July 15, at 6:30pm, provides an opportunity for a fun DIY craft that lets you go home with a sleek, nocturnal design on your very own t-shirt.

The Ferndale Library Summer Reading series is space-themed, so librarians will be providing a lunar template and stellar paint that can create a glowing phosphorescence after the UV light of the day’s sun has set. Make your own moon-design t-shirt and take a walk around Downtown Ferndale to light up the club scene, or just wear it in your backyard for the barbecue to be the coolest kid at the stargazing party.

Craft events for adults are subtle ways to relieve stress. They provide a social activity that gets us out of our houses, takes our minds off work, and, most importantly, lets us put down our phones and be creative for an hour. Plus, there will be live music provided by electronic composer Steve Greene (of the synth-rock band Voyag3r). Other refreshments will be provided.

Participants should bring their own plain, black cotton t-shirt.

Registration is required as both seating and supplies are limited. http://tiny.cc/moontees The library’s Summer Reading series, “A Universe of Stories,” celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Adults can sign up on Saturday, June 22, or at any point afterward at the Reference Desk, to participate with reading-based games to win prizes. Follow the Ferndale Library on Facebook for more updates and a full list of events.
