Reporter Food: Le Crepe in Royal Oak
(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 22, 2019)
Royal Oak, MI- I recently started using Door Dash, and it’s been a great way to add new restaurants to the Reporter Food section.
One of the first that I tried was Le Crepe, which is located at 317 S. Washington Ave in Downtown Royal Oak.
Le Crepe is a gourmet crepe restaurant offering both savory and sweet creations. They also have glueten free and vegan options. For my first time it seemed appropriate to try both a savory and a sweet.
The Brie and Basil crepe was a great choice, featuring house-marinated chicken, fresh basil and Brie cheese, all wrapped nicely in a house-made savory crepe.
Some other choices could have been the Green Goat (house marinated chicken, bacon, green apples, caramelized onions, mixed greens, goat cheese, and roast garlic and shallot vinaigrette, the Signature Ribeye Truffle(with steak, spinach, wild mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and truffle zip, and the Old Woodward (with tofu, red onion, avocado, grape tomatoes, spinach, and Feta Cheese.) The menu is full of options, each with fresh ingredients and a creative touch.
For the sweet side, I opted for the Banana Exotique Crepe made with caramelized bananas, toasted coconut, caramel sauce, powdered sugar and whipped cream. Obviously this was delicious and beautiful. Others on the menu include the Appletastic, the S’mores, the Patriot, and the Chocolate Eclair crepe.
