June 20 – Downtown Ferndale Art of the Cocktail

FERNDALE, MI -The Ferndale Downtown Development Authority is excited to announce the return of The Art of the Cocktail, a fundraiser with a decidedly Ferndale twist! For the sixth straight year, this popular event raises funds for public art in the district while showcasing and celebrating art in its most creative forms.

The creative talents of 10 of the best bartenders from some of Downtown Ferndale’s finest establishments will be on display as they compete in crafting a cocktail featuring spirits from the award-winning Valentine Distilling Co. and a pantry of ingredients, including Ferndale-based Schramm’s Mead. Guests will be the judges and choose which mixologist’s creation takes home the title “Official Cocktail of Ferndale” for 2019. Music, appetizers, a silent auction, and more surprises round out what promises to be an entertaining and fun-filled night for all.

“The Art of the Cocktail is a great fusion of Downtown Ferndale’s happening nightlife and its commitment to enriching the lives of residents and visitors with public art,” said Ferndale DDA Deputy Director Cindy Willcock. “Ferndale stands out as a creative community in countless ways, so why not celebrate that in a uniquely Ferndale way – by raising funds, along with a few glasses, at a cocktail throw-down downtown!”

The Art of the Cocktail is from 6-9 p.m., June 20, and is in two neighboring venues – M-Brew and Valentine Distilling Company. Tickets are $40 each and are on sale at downtownferndale.com. Valentine Spirits are the featured contest ingredient, and sponsors of the event include Robertson Brothers Homes, Blumz by JR Design, Schramm’s Mead and the Ferndale DDA.

Competing bartenders include:

Guy Krowl – The Vault Bar at The Elks

Brian Edwards – GreenSpace Café

Toast – Courtney McManus

Jared Zarb – Woodward Avenue Brewers

Rahsaan Grissom – Schramm’s Mead

Jade Cole – Howe’s Bayou

Brooke Upchurch – Dino’s Lounge
