Over a Dozen Have Pulled Petitions for Southfield City Council Race So Far

(Crystal A. Proxmire, May 6, 2019)

Southfield, MI  As of May 1 over a dozen people have requested nominating petitions to run for City Council in Southfield.

According to City Clerk Sherikia Hawkins, the following residents have picked up petitions and information on running for City Council:

Harold Hill

Sara Habbo

Amani Johnson

Constance Bell

Latina Denson

Tina M Poole

Tawnya Morris (Current Councilwoman)

Dan Brightwell (Current Councilman)

Myron Frasier (Current Councilman)

Nancy L. M. Banks

Donald Fracasssi (Current Councilman)

Jason Hoskins

James Pierce

Coretta Houge

Ghana Goodwine-Dye

Patricia Garrett

Requesting petitions does not always mean that the person is going to run. There is the possibility that they will fall short in collecting signatures, or otherwise be disqualified. Or they may simply decide not to.

Each Candidate needs 200 signatures no more than 400 in order to make it on the ballot.

The filing deadline is Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. EST. Those who want to run may pick up petitions and more information at the City Clerk’s office at 26000 Greenfield.

There are four city council seats on the ballot for the Nov. 5, 2019 election.  Currently those seats are held by Brightwell, Fracassi, Frasier, and Morris who have all pulled petitions.
