May 19 Sheila Landis & the Brazilian Love Affair Concert at Beth Shalom

Oak Park, MI- Come hungry for good food and good music at the 14th Annual Cantor Sam and Mona Greenbaum Concert at Beth Shalom on Sunday, May 19, at 4:00 p.m.

Sheila Landis has been performing her unique style of jazz, Latin, and blues since 1973. Clearly one of the area’s finest vocalists, Sheila has been chosen as the Outstanding Jazz Vocalist by the Detroit Music awards on seven occasions. Her catalog of recorded work on her own SheLan Records has received extensive airplay in local, national, and international markets.

Landis will perform with her 6-piece, drum-driven ensemble, Brazilian Love Affair, and has appeared at the Detroit Jazz Festival, the Lansing Jazz Festival, and the Concert of Colors.

Not content to stay within the conventional boundaries of the “jazz singer,” Landis has expanded her vocal palette to include bird calls, uncanny imitations of the harmonica, trumpet, flute, electric guitar, synthesizer, string bass and “beat box” drums.

A light dinner will follow the musical program. Reservations are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and under are free. Sponsors are much appreciated.
