Texas Truck Driver Struck, Critically Injured While Crossing Street on Delivery Route

Rochester Hills, MI – The Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting Deputies from the Rochester Hills Substation with the investigation of a serious injury pedestrian crash that occurred near 2923 Technology Dr. in the City of Rochester Hills at approximately 07:15 hours.
A 1999 GMC Jimmy was being driven north on Technology Dr. by a 65-year-old Rochester Hills resident approaching Adams Rd. A tractor trailer was parked south in front of 2923 Technology Dr. making deliveries. The tractor trailer was unoccupied. The driver of the tractor trailer was returning to his vehicle and was crossing Technology Dr. when he entered the roadway and was struck by the 1999 GMC.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a 36-year-old resident of Rosenberg, TX, was struck on his left side and was transported to McLaren Oakland in Pontiac and later transferred to Royal Oak Beaumont where they remain in critical condition.
There was no airbag deployment in the GMC and seat belt use is unknown at this time. There were no injuries to the driver of the GMC.
Alcohol/drug use is not believed to be a factor for the driver of the GMC or the pedestrian who was struck.
The crash remains under investigation.
