Lyft Offering Discounts on St. Patrick’s Day Rides, Ferndale to Have Lyft Credits

(Lyft, March 14, 2019)

Ferndale, MI – Nothing symbolizes St. Patrick’s Day more than a kilt, green beer and a Lyft Driver getting you home after a day of celebrating with friends. To help kick off this year’s festivities, Lyft, whose mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation, is partnering with a coalition of brands and local authorities to give people rides home this St. Patrick’s Day.

Budweiser’s non-alcoholic Prohibition Brew brand, The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Ferndale Police are partnering with Lyft to promote responsible choices when it comes to getting a ride home this holiday weekend.

“Lyft is excited to continue expanding its partnerships with Metro Detroit organizations as part of our Ride Smart initiative encouraging locals to make smart choices when enjoying the festivities,” said Elliot Darvick, General Manager of Lyft Detroit. “It’s our goal to help everyone experience the St. Patrick’s Day in a responsible and worry-free manner.”

Partygoers in need of a ride home in Metro Detroit Saturday and Sunday can use promo code PROHIBITIONDTW to get 50% off one ride, up to $8 maximum credit, on behalf of Budweiser’s new Non Alcoholic brand Prohibition Brew.

Additionally, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Ferndale Police will be distributing Lyft ride credits in the form of physical green coupons to area Irish pubs and directly to those in need of rides. The coupons, which will be valid up to $15, will be imprinted with a Lyft promo code and are valid March 16, 12:01 a.m. to March 17, 11:59 p.m.

“St. Patrick’s Day has become a day for everyone to celebrate in the Irish festivities, however, we encourage safe driving practices to keep our roads free from impaired drivers,” said Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard. “The Sheriff’s Office is pleased to partner with Lyft to give those who celebrate a little too much an option to get home safely.”

Sergeant Baron Brown, Community Engagement Officer of the Ferndale Police Department, is also preparing for the big weekend.

“We will have extra officers working on St. Patty’s Day”, Brown said. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone here in Ferndale celebrating, has a happy and safe day. Say “Hi” to one of our officers. Take a coupon with the Lyft promo-code. Use the Lyft app to get home at the end of your day of green beer. You don’t have any excuses if you get locked up for driving after you’ve been drinking”.

To redeem the social and card codes, open the Lyft app. Then, tap on your profile image (upper left corner), followed by “promos.” Enter the promo code to ride smart.
