“Grand Canyon in Winter” Andrew Potter Photography Reception at Ferndale Library Dec. 9

FERNDALE, MI – Local photographer Andrew Potter will showcase just one of his many types of subjects with this season’s “Grand Canyon in Winter” exhibition at the Ferndale Library. The reception for this show will be on Sun., Dec. 9, from 2-4pm, featuring music by local artist Chad Stocker (of The High Strung).

Andrew Potter is a freelance photographer in the Detroit area and a regular contributor to Ambassador Magazine, C & G Newspapers and Between The Lines. Potter’s photos have also been published in the Washington Post, Crain’s Detroit, Ann Arbor.com, Dagens Industri, Luxe & Class Magazine, Detroiter, and Real Detroit Weekly.

Potter started his career in photography at Eastern Michigan University where he was the Photo Editor of the Eastern Echo. Potter also photographs weddings, events, and portraits. You may have heard him on his past overnight radio show 89.1 Jazz with Andrew Potter on WEMU Public Radio or seen him play guitar at the Detroit International Jazz Festival.

Potter lives in Ferndale with his wife, Shanna, and his Rottweiler, Bowie. He regularly updates his photography blog (http://andrewpotterphoto.blogspot.com) where he features his latest works in the realms of sports photography, local bands, culinary delights, or just capturing the beautiful architecture and locales around Detroit.

Potter’s Ferndale Library Exhibition will be specifically featuring images he captured during an exploration of the Grand Canyon during the winter months. Attendees of the Dec 9 reception will also experience the sound collages of ambient music composer and guitar improvisationist Chad Stocker. Stocker writes and performs experimental music under the moniker Honest To Goodness, but local music fans will recognize him as a member of rock quintet The High Strung.
