City of Ferndale Offering Rides to Vote Nov. 6

Ferndale, MI- The City of Ferndale City Clerk’s Office has partnered with the Ferndale Parks and Recreation Department to offer curb to curb transportation to the polls for the upcoming Election on Tuesday, November 6.

The service is open to all Ferndale residents and business owners. There is no cost for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities; the round-trip cost for others is $2. Pickups will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Return times may vary depending on the number of requests and poll locations.

“Our goal is to assist voters who may not have the means to get to the polls themselves,” said City Clerk Marne McGrath. “We’re trying the service with truncated hours that coincide with the community transit program’s regular schedule, however if we find the program to be successful we may extend the hours for future elections.”

A licensed bus driver will conduct all home pickups throughout Ferndale, and Ferndale Parks and Recreation staff members will conduct pickups from poll sites.

Pickups must be scheduled by calling Barb Turner in the Parks & Recreation Department by end of day November 2. To do so, call 248-914-2701.  Residents will receive their designated times on Monday, November 5.
