Ferndale Library Great Pumpkin Party Oct. 27

FERNDALE, MIStaff at the Ferndale Library have been notoriously enthusiastic about Halloween, and this year’s annual holiday celebration on Oct. 27 will be no exception.

This year’s costume theme will be “Children’s Literature,” with iconic characters like Willy Wonka, Bunnicula, Katniss Everdeen, and more! Ferndale’s three Youth Services Librarians embraced a bit of Charlie Brown nostalgia in calling this “The Great Pumpkin Party!” Families and kids of all ages can start their trick-or-treating trail through the library at 5pm, where they’ll also get to sip some cider, nibble on donuts and get their pictures taken with the friendly fuzzy friends from Detroit Mascots.

The Ferndale Library is an official stop along the 9 Mile route of participating local businesses for the city’s Downtown Trick-or-Treating event, Saturday, Oct 27. The library usually closes at 5 pm on Saturdays but will remain open until 7 pm exclusively for the program of Halloween themed activities. Books, public computers, and other typically available resources won’t be accessible during this event, but all ages are welcome to enjoy the Great Pumpkin Party! As costumed kids, parents, and caregivers explore the library and interact with our costumed staff, they’ll also find craft activities and games in the Kids Corner. Kids are not required to dress up as literary characters, but if any inspired parents hear about the theme in time to design their own costume, then they’re certainly encouraged!

No registration is required to attend and all ages are welcome. Participants of the Downtown Trick-or-Treat event can enter the library any time after 6 pm, but the event will be winding down at 6:45 pm. More info: https://www.facebook.com/events/2090514711262732/
