Reporter Food: Grilled Ham, Egg & Cheese Sandwich at Davisburg Bread

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 11, 2018)

Holly, MI – I wasn’t even planning on writing a column about this sandwich that I grabbed for the ride home from Holly.  I was hungry and in a hurry, and what could possibly be all that exciting about a grilled cheese sandwich anyway?

And I was wrong.

Just look at this thing! I regret not taking the time to eat it there, in the cozy dining room of the Davisburg Bread Company in Downtown Holly.  That would have been a better picture.

But even on the passenger seat of my car, in a humble carryout box, this sandwich was a star.

To begin with, Davisburg Bread uses wholesome ingredients to fresh bake their bread each day, and the quality is undeniable. But that care extends to their ingredients also.  This is not just cheap deli meat – the ham is thick cut off the bone ham like you’d have on the day after Christmas dinner kind of ham. And the cheese is deliciously melty Colby cheese, which is the perfect texture for holding the bread, ham and egg together.  And of course it was grilled to buttery perfection.

Davisburg Bread is open 10am-5pm each day, with a variety of sandwich options. They also have house-made soups and of course fresh baked treats like scones and pastries.

We’ve previously written about the Chicken, Bacon and Avocado sandwich, and the BBQ pulled pork. Find Davisburg Bread on Facebook, and stop in at 204 S. Saginaw St. Holly, Michigan, MI 48442.
