Youth Suicide Prevention Resources Event, Novi June 22

Youth Suicide Prevention Resources Event, Novi June 22

Novi, MI –Attend the youth suicide prevention and awareness event and fundraiser for local non-profits: Suicide Prevention, Exercise and Connections for Our Youth! This exciting event will include strength training classes, games, prizes, refreshments, and information about mental health, substance use, and suicide prevention!

Mental health and substance use disorders do not discriminate- they affect people from every zip code, age bracket, race, and income level. Nationally, this is clear from the recent and tragic loses of celebrities like Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain.  Locally, a new report from the CDC found Michigan’s suicide rate increased by a third over the last 20 years”.[1] Is there anything we can do to stop these tragic happenings?

Addressing the issue is not simple, but it starts from sharing information, asking questions, and having open conversations about mental health and substance use.  Understanding that knowledge is power, My House Fitness, in Novi, is hosting the first annual Suicide Prevention, Exercise and Connections for Our Youth event, to raise awareness about youth suicide and funds for the local non-profits CNS Healthcare, and The Children’s Center of Detroit.

This event will take place Friday, June 22nd, at My House Fitness, 43443 Grand River Ave #230, Novi, MI 48375 from 8:30am-7:30pm. Stop by anytime, for free 30 minute fitness classes, mental health information and resources, prizes, and great gift baskets from our sponsors! All are welcome, and those 14+ may participate in fitness classes. There is no cost to participate in this event, though donations will be accepted.

Along with free exercise classes, attend one of three presentations:

9:30am- The Children’s Center and Art Therapy, with Holly Gorecki, TCC

12:00pm- Youth Suicide Prevention, with Amy Stern, LMSW, CNS Healthcare

5:30pm- Youth Suicide Prevention, with Mark Mitchell, LMSW, CNS Healthcare
