Musiquie Noire Free Concert at Ferndale Library Aug 7

FERNDALE, MI – The Ferndale Library often doubles as a concert venue. Last year, record-high audiences enjoyed three sensational performances for the library’s annual Summer Concert Series, including a 15-piece rock-n-roll-infused marching band that took over the courtyard. This year, an authentic Congolese dance troupe, a funk-rock maestor and a four-piece jazz string quartet will be treating local music lovers to free performances, scheduled each month this season and set to be held in the courtyard by Troy St.

This series of monthly performances is an ideal way for music fans and families to spend a summer evening. Each year, the Ferndale Library’s Summer Concert Series gives library visitors the opportunity to experience music and culture from an eclectic trio of Michigan artists throughout the season. The Summer Concert Series is made possible with support from the Friends of the Ferndale Library and annual library bake sales.

While predominantly known for silent studying and tranquil reading, the Ferndale Library likes to get loud every once in a while. Performance series such as First Stop Friday, a demonstration of the library’s support of the local music scene, can tend to appeal to the Gen-X and Millennial age weekend show-goers who are already regulars on the music scene. But the Summer Concert Series is hosted earlier in the evening, on weekdays, and designed to be a family-friendly event for parents to bring the little ones to dance together in the grassy courtyard, with top-notch artists who typically make exclusive engagements–making each of these three nights a can’t-miss-opportunity.
