Ferndale Art of the Cocktail to Raise Money for Public Art June 21

Ferndale, MI – Continuing its efforts to raise funds for public art in the district, the Ferndale DDA is excited to announce the return of The Art of the Cocktail, a fundraiser with a decidedly Ferndale twist. For the fifth straight year, this popular event supports public art while celebrating art in all forms. Armed with spirits from the award-winning Valentine Distilling Co. and a pantry of ingredients, the creative blending talents of bartenders from some of Ferndale’s finest establishments will be on display as they compete in crafting a cocktail that will earn the title “Official Cocktail of Ferndale” for 2018, as voted on by event attendees. Music, appetizers, henna by Alchemy Slow Living Studios, a silent auction, and more surprises round out what promises to be an entertaining and fun-filled night for all.

“The Art of the Cocktail is a great way to fuse Downtown Ferndale’s happening nightlife with its commitment to enriching the lives of residents and visitors with public art,” said Ferndale DDA Deputy Director Cindy Willcock. “Ferndale stands out as a creative community in countless ways, so why not celebrate that in a uniquely Ferndale way – with a cocktail throw-down to raise some funds while we raise a few glasses too!”

The Art of the Cocktail is from 6-9 p.m., June 21, and is in two neighboring venues – M-Brew and Valentine Distilling Company. Tickets are $40 each and are on sale at downtownferndale.com. Valentine Spirits are featured contest ingredients, and sponsors of the event include Blumz by JR Design and the Ferndale DDA.

Competing bartenders include:

 Jake Semma – Js Penalty Box

 Guy Krowl – The Vault Bar at The Elks

 Jeffrey Smyk – Go Comedy Improv Theatre

 Brian Edwards – GreenSpace Café

 Bobby Durant – M-Brew

 Rich Saady – The Oakland

 Noah Eikhoff – Public House

 Brooke Upchurch – Dino’s Lounge
