Sin Paredes to Launch May 5 with Mexican Food Delivery and M-Brew Collaboration

(M-Brew, May 3, 2018)

Ferndale, MI – M-Brew and Dino’s Lounge proprietor Dean Bach has teamed up with Chef Kelzi Bartholomaei, formerly of Mother Hubbard’s Café in Tuscon, Arizona, to create Sin Paredes – a Mexican restaurant catering to delivery service clientele, though there will be to-go service on location as well.

The “virtual restaurant” concept is a new trend with food delivery services like Uber Eats and Grub Hub.

Working out of a commissary kitchen at M-Brew on Vester Street in Downtown Ferndale, Sin Paredes will also be given space at M-Brew’s JoMo Basement Bar on a weekly basis to allow Chef Kelzi to serve her creations to dine in guests complete with Mexican beer and cocktail choices.

“Ferndale residents have been craving a Mexican restaurant to compliment the city’s already great food establishments, this is a great way to bring it to them and not take up a bunch of parking on busy weekend nights,” said Bach.

“Chef Kelzi just moved to the area from Tuscon and she’s the real deal.” He added, “ We hit it off and thought why not. She was looking for a spot to do her thing and we have plenty of kitchen space for her to do it.”

Chef Kelzi has an impressive history in the restaurant business. Mother Hubbard’s Café was opened in 1973 as a low cost breakfast place that was well known for its support in the local community of people living with HIV and AIDS. Kelzi took the reins in 2010 and was featured on Food Network, Food Network Canada and named one of the 10 best diners by Men’s Health, before closing in 2016.

Kelzi’s innovative menus in Tuscon were rooted in contemporary Native American cuisine and adapted to standards she could get excited about resulting in delicious creations reflective of the local Tuscon spirit as well as her own cultural traditions spanning both U.S. borders – Mexico and Canada.

Sin Paredes will do a soft opening with a full celebration on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) as a menu takeover at M-Brew that will last May 5- 7. Customers will be able to visit this popular local Downtown Ferndale spot to get a taste of the Sin Paredes menu.

The format at M-Brew/JoMo is counter service where guests order at a counter and are given a number to place on their table. Food will then be run to your table fresh from the kitchen.

Menu items will be of an authentic experience. Multiple burrito and taco options with house made masa tortillas, fresh made salsas and dips as well as other classic Mexican items will tie into some more traditional items such as chicken mole, chili rellenos and tamales to name a few.

The virtual restaurant concept is new to the area but has a proven track record in other big cities. With the arrival of Uber Eats in addition to Grub Hub and other delivery services available on the horizon, there seems to be plenty of delivery options to get Sin Paredes to your table. Daily carryout from the M-Brew counter will also be available.

“We’re going to be making it for the delivery services, if you want to save yourself a couple bucks you can just call in your own order” said Bach of the new concept. “Mexican is a favorite flavor for a lot of diners. We want to bring it to you in its most authentic form possible”

Sin Paredes means “Without Walls,” which seemed fitting for one of Ferndale’s first Virtual Restaurants.

MBrew and Sin Paredes is located at 177 Vester Street.  Check them out on Facebook. Soon you can find them on Grub Hub and Uber Eats.
