Ferndale Schools Seeking Applicants for Board of Education

Ferndale Schools Seeking Applicants for Board of Education

(Crystal A. Proxmire, April 13, 2018)

Ferndale, Oak Park, Royal Oak Township, Pleasant Ridge MI- The Ferndale Schools Board of Education has a vacancy, and the district is accepting applications through Wednesday, April 18th, 12pm.  Candidate interviews will take place on Monday, April 23rd, 6pm, in the FHS Media Center.  The vacancy will be filled by a vote of the board until the November election.

The position is to fill that left vacant by the resignation of Jordan Smellie.   In his letter of resignation Mr. Smellie stated “With regret, I feel the need to resign from my position as trustee on the Board of Education for personal reasons. I have recently had a change in my employment, and for the moment will not be able to continue dedicating the time and energy required to fully contribute as part of the team. I have been honored to serve the students, staff, and community members of Ferndale Schools, and am grateful to have done so alongside seven outstanding fellow leaders. The Board is a true asset to our four communities, and I will continue to wholeheartedly support the excellent work I have seen happening every day in Ferndale Schools.”

Mr. Smellie had been on the Board since December when he was appointed to fill the vacancy created by Karen Twomey’s resignation.
