Oak Park Now Enrolling for Citizens Academy in May

(City of Oak Park, March 3, 2018)

Oak Park, MI – Did you ever wonder how police officers process fingerprints? How to tell a real gun from a knockoff? How heavy a fire house can be? How evidence technicians process a crime scene? If so, you may want to enroll in the Oak Park Public Safety’s Citizens Academy.

The Academy will be held May 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This fascinating series of workshops is free to Oak Park residents. This year, we added an additional day to the series for a very special night where the officers will take the academy students through an actual and well-known homicide case, step-by-step to see how the evidence evolved over time to solve the case. It promises to be a very fascinating evening.

Seats are limited. If you are interested in enrolling, be sure to enroll early.  Applications are available at the Oak Park Public Safety Department and on the City’s website. Download and send your application to Detective Koch no later than April 13.

For more information, call Detective Koch at (248) 691-7514 or email RKoch@OakParkMI.gov. Drop-off or mail your completed application to Detective Robert Koch, Department of Public Safety, City of Oak Park, 13800 Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park, MI 48237.
