Former US Representative Joe Knollenberg Dies at 84

Troy, MI – Former US Representative Joseph (Joe) Knollenberg of Bloomfield Township died Tuesday at the age of 84 while battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Knollenberg was a Republican who served in the US House of Representatives from 1993 to 2009. Knollenberg was born in Mattoon, Illinois in 1933 and he worked as an insurance agent for over 30 years before serving in Congress.

He married Sandra “Sandie” Moco in 1962 and the couple had two sons, Stephen and Martin. (Marty). Marty Knollenberg currently serves in the State House of Representatives.

The family will receive friends Friday 1-8 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. (between Maple and Big Beaver), 248-362-2500. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon St. at Woodland, Birmingham.
