Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group Meets on Third Thursdays

(Karen S Adcock, SDC, Director of Senior Services, City of Auburn Hills, Feb. 2, 2018)

Auburn Hills, MI- Do you have someone in your life that is suffering from dementia?  Are you a caregiver and wonder sometimes how you can keep going?  Do you feel all alone taking care of your loved one, wondering if your thoughts, concerns and challenges are yours alone?

Having a family member or friend who suffers from dementia can be stressful, difficult and can tear at your emotions.  Most of your feelings and thoughts are the same feelings and thoughts of other caregivers.

The Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group meets the 3rd Thursday each month at the Auburn Hills Community Center from 6pm-7pm, which is conducted by 2 trained facilitators, Cindy Morley and Annette Werner.  This is a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia to build a support system with people who understand.  It allows participants to exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions, talk through issues and ways of coping, share feelings, needs and concerns as well as learn about community resources.

Our support group meets regularly and encourages caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally caring for the person with dementia.

Stop by the 3rd Thursday at 6pm and meet other caregivers, just like you.

If you need to talk to someone before then feel free to call to one of our facilitators: Cindy Morley 248-875-2052 or Annette Werner 248-840-5169 or call the Senior Services Department at 248-370-9353.
