Public Meeting on Berkley Infrastructure & Facility Needs Jan. 16

(City of Berkley, Jan. 13, 2018)

Berkley, MI- Please plan to join us at the Berkley Community Center on Tuesday, January 16, at 6:30 pm for an important discussion on infrastructure and facility needs.

Berkley City Officials are once again inviting residents to help shape the future of our community.   Over the course of 2018, our city would like to bring years of planning and studies to fruition by applying the resources needed to improve our facilities and our infrastructure.  Information about how the city might implement these recommendations will be presented during the open house.

In order to continue a community conversation that began over a year ago, residents will have an opportunity to preview concepts for a new Community Center, view the floor plan for a proposed city hall renovation, and review strategies for improvements to our roads, water, and sewer networks.  Information stations will allow residents to hold a direct dialogue with city staff and learn details about how this could impact their tax bill.

Berkley City Manager Matt Baumgarten said, “We are excited by the potential to improve the quality of life of our great community.  Berkley residents want smooth roads, resilient infrastructure, and viable community spaces to recreate and enjoy fellowship. Through the participation of citizen boards, resident volunteers, and expert consultants, a path forward is within our reach.”

Resident input is vital to the success of this conversation because voter approval is required for all of the financial options under consideration.  Opportunities for more public dialogue will be scheduled.  The City Council will make the final determination regarding the ballot language and when it will be placed on the ballot.
