Royal Oak to Consider Raising Parking Rates

Royal Oak, MI  – Royal Oak City Commissioners will be considering parking rate increases recommended by the Downtown Development Authority at their Monday, Jan. 8 meeting.

According to documents in the agenda packet, the following rates are recommended:

Parking Rate Recommendations 12-05-2017

DDA Parking Subcommittee

On Street Parking

High Demand Area Before 5:00 pm $ 1.00 to $ 1.25

High Demand Area After 5:00 pm $ 1.00  to $ 1.50

Outside High Demand Area – all times $ 0.75 remain $ 0.75

Surface Lots

High Demand

(P1 – P8) Before 5:00 pm $ 0.50 to $ 0.75

(P1 – P8) After 5:00 pm $ 0.75 to $ 1.00

(P6 eliminated – new garage)

Outside High Demand Area

(P10 – P11) Before 5:00 pm $ 0.25 to $ 0.50

(P10 – P11) After 5:00 pm $ 0.50 to $ 0.75

(P9) All times $ 0.50  to $ 0.75

Surface Lot Monthly Permits

(P1, P2 & P4) $ 60.00 to $ 75.00

All Other Lots $ 25.00 to $ 45.00

First Two (2) Hours Free remain Free

After First Two (2) Hours $ 0.50 to  $ 0.75

Parking Garages Flat Rate After 5:00 pm

Center $ 5.00 remain $ 5.00

S Lafayette $ 3.00 remain $ 3.00

Parking Garage Monthly Permits

Center $ 40.00 to $ 50.00

N Lafayette $ 35.00 to $ 45.00

UPDATE: The Commission will be considering the monthly permits on Monday, and  the DDA will continue working on a plan to implement IPS meters and Park Mobile for metered parking.

The Commission meeting takes place Jan. 8 at City Hall, 211 South Williams Street
