Royal Oak and Berkley Communities to Have MLK Day of Service Jan. 15

Make January 15 a Day On; Not a Day Off

Join the communities of Berkley and Royal Oak in honoring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of service on Jan. 15, 2018 at Berkley High School (BHS), 2325 Catalpa Drive.

8:00 a.m | Doors open; continental breakfast served in BHS Collaborative Center

8:30 a.m.| Program begins in BHS Auditorium

9:00 a.m. | Onsite service projects begin in BHS Collaborative Center and offsite service projects depart. (Location to be announced.)

Admission to this event is FREE with the donation of any of the following items:  Ziploc Bags Baby Wipes Underwear (Children & Teens) Mini First Aid Kits Winter Scarves Dry Pasta Construction Paper Markers Scissors Bar Soap Shampoo Conditioner Lotion Washcloth Toothpaste Toothbrush Liquid Body Wash Deodorant Socks (Children & Teens) Canned Goods Dried Food Goods Tampons Sanitary Napkins Legal Paper Binder Clips Umbrellas Large White Bath Towels Diapers Toilet Paper Letter Paper Kitchen Storage Bags Trash Bags Night Lights Paper Clips Playing Cards Baby Wipes Underwear (Children & Teens) Mini First Aid Kits Winter Scarves Dry Pasta Construction Paper Markers Scissors Stuffed Animals Books (children’s and teen) *Blanket (Baby and Small Throw Only)

 

Offsite Service Projects

Transportation to and from the following off-site service projects will provided.

Judson Center          Volunteers will create Valentine cards, so please bring supplies like construction paper, markers, scissors, etc. Volunteers will leave Berkley High School around 9:15 a.m. and return around 1 p.m

New Foster Care      Volunteers will sort donations, create food packages and write cards of encouragement for children and teenagers touched by foster care. Volunteers will leave Berkley High School around 9:15 a.m. and return around 1 p.m.

Yad Ezra  Volunteers will chaperone shoppers through food pantry. Volunteers will leave Berkley High School around 9:15 a.m. and return around 1 p.m.

Must be at least 11 years old.

Onsite Service Projects 

On-site service projects take place in the BHS Collaborative Center and include  sorting, packaging and loading collected miscellaneous donations.
