Chanu-Con! Chanukah Festival November 19 in Oak Park

Oak Park, MI – Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak Park will hold its second annual “Chanu-Con!” community-wide Chanukah festival on Sunday, November 19 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The festival will be one of the Detroit area’s largest Chanukah-themed events, providing fun and entertainment for all ages. Admission is free and open to the public.

Chanu-Con! will feature Chef Cari’s kosher food truck and other food selections from Bloom’s Kosher Catering and Mazal Tov Kosher Cuisine of Windsor. There will also be a tin can raffle with over 60 valuable prizes, retail vendors offering a variety of holiday gift ideas, and live musical entertainment by Aaron Lewis (American folk), Matthew Ball (boogie piano), and Kidz Klez (klezmer). Finally, children’s activity options include a bounce house, candle dipping, fingerprint art, snow globe making, dreidels, Chanukah crafts, and much more.

“This year, we are joining forces with Yad Ezra, Metro Detroit’s only kosher food bank,” said Beth Rodgers, event coordinator. “Non-perishable food donations, including latke mixes, are encouraged, which will help families in need during the holiday season.”

Chanu-Con! has been generously sponsored by local businesses and organizations, including Cohen Lerner & Rabinovitz Attorneys, Pest Arrest, Hillel Day School, Lincoln Drugs, Star Trax, Ultimate Care Pharmacy, Hazon Detroit, Adrienne Groff Design, and the Detroit Jewish News.

Admission to the event is free, with food and vendor gift items available for purchase. Raffle tickets will range in cost from 50 cents to $5 depending on the prize. Beth Shalom is located at 14601 Lincoln Street in Oak Park.
