2017 Candidate Interview: Coleman Yoakum for Pontiac City Council Dist. 2

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 13, 2017)

Pontiac, MI – Coleman Yoakum is running for City Council in Pontiac for District 2.  Also on the ballot for the Nov. 7 election is incumbent Donald Woodward.  Maureen Dunwoodle is also running as a write-in candidate.

Yoakum is the owner of Sprout Produce Store and the Director of the community-driven nonprofit Micah 6.

“I moved to Pontiac six years ago just kind of looking for a place where I could move, settle down, put down roots and really make a difference,” Yoakum said.  “So we started, in my neighborhood, we started an organization where we initially started with community gardens. We’ve now opened two small businesses in that neighborhood and we’re getting ready to renovate Webster Elementary to be a community center. So as City Council elections were coming up I said this is another way that I could make a difference. So it just seemed like a good next step.”
