2017 Candidate Interview: Derrick F. Hale for Southfield City Clerk

2017 Candidate Interview: Derrick F. Hale for Southfield City Clerk

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 7, 2017)

Southfield, MI-  Derrick F. Hale is one of three people running for Southfield City Clerk in the Nov. 7, 2017 election.  Also on the ballot are Tarita Darden and Sherikia L. Hawkins.

Hale served as State Representative from 1997-2003, where he was also Democratic Caucus Leader.  He volunteers with the American Council for Young Leaders, the Martin Luther King Taskforce and the Southfield Lathrup Democratic Club.  He’s worked as an Election Inspector and as a fundraiser for the Safe Routes to School Campaign.

“On the horizon I see a couple of the reason why I would like to bring my electoral experience to the table for City Clerk of Southfield,” Hale said.  “Two things that are coming down the pike are the Census and redistricting.  And I would like to make sure that everyone is counted correctly and fairly because that’s going to have an impact on our state and federal funding for the city of Southfield.
