2017 Candidate Interview: Roslyn Grafstein for Madison Heights City Council

2017 Candidate Interview:  Roslyn Grafstein for Madison Heights City Council

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 21, 2017)

Madison Heights, MI – Roslyn Grafstein is one of eight candidates running for three seats on the Madison Heights City Council.  She will be joined on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot by Mark Bliss, Ronald Butcher, Johnette P. Eggert, Aaron Flanigan, Mark L. Kimble, Emily Rohrbach and David M. Soltis.

Grafstein works as a financial analysist and has volunteered for the Parks and Recreation Board, coordinating block parties, the Madison Heights International Moms Club, Girl Scouts, the Womens Club and various school-related groups and activities.

“My vision for Madison Heights is safe, clean neighborhoods where all families have access to services and opportunities needed to ensure we succeed.  In order to get there, there’s a few things we need to address.  The biggest concern is blight and code enforcement… The second concern is safety. A very low cost way to increase the safety is to increase our sense of community by getting to know our neighbors with block parties, yard sales and any other events that just bring our neighbors out to meet each other.  Hiring emergency personnel is ideal, but for now the city just doesn’t have it in the budge.  And that leads me to my third point and that is that we need to increase our efforts to bring new businesses to the city.  Being at 696 and I-75 gives us easy access to all of Metro Detroit.  We need to capitalize on this location,” she said.
