2017 Candidate Interview: Berkley Councilperson Jack Blanchard

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 23, 2017)

Berkley, MI – Berkley City Councilperson Jack Blanchard is seeking re-election on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot.  Also on the ballot competing for three seats are Colleen Graveline, Dennis Hennen, Charles A. Tyrrell and incumbent Steven W. Baker.

Blanchard has served six years on Council, including a two-year term to which he was appointed.  He’s been a volunteer fire fighter with the City of Berkley for over 30 years and he worked for GM and the Army as a diesel engineer, attaining rank of Colonel.

When asked why people should vote for him, Blanchard said “Experience matters.  I think with six years of experience of managing, the budgets, I also managed budgets in the military. I managed budgets for GM.  So I’ve got a lot of budget experience.  When we go through the budget process I’ve got more sticky notes on than you can count, so I watch the money very carefully.”
