FREE Workshop for Women Starting Social Venture Enterprises Aug. 16

EmpowerHER, a partnership between Ford Motor Company Fund and Michigan Women’s Foundation, will offer a continuum of programs and services to women (and a few good men) wishing to start or grow Social Venture Enterprises. Social entrepreneurship responds to a social need – fixing a problem that seems intractable.

A social venture enterprise:

Fundamentally exists to solve a real community problem

Requires a business model that will ultimately allow the business to be sustainable

Must focus on a product or service people will pay for

Must follow the “No Margin, No Mission,” that is, while some profits may be sacrificed to serve the mission, the business must ultimately be sustainable

The EmpowerHER Workshop Series is designed to help shape or refine your social enterprise concept.

Workshop #2 – From Concept Paper to Business Plan led by Carla McDonald, Director of Training, Lifeline Business Consulting Services

You have your idea and have started to piece together the crucial parts, but what needs to be included in a concept paper and what needs to be included in your business plan? Carla McDonald has helped guide countless entrepreneurs through the journey of creating successful concept papers and business plans over the years. This workshop is an important component of the EmpowerHER program, seeing that you will need to have a concept paper to enter into the competition come September.
