Ferndale gets the chance to meet the new director of their library on Sat., Jul. 29. This meet & greet with Director Jenny Marr is hosted by the Friends of the Ferndale Library. Attendees are welcome to mingle, ask Ms. Marr questions and enjoy cake and punch.

Marr started as Ferndale Library’s new director on Jun. 5, having come from several years as head of the Morrill Public Library in Hiawatha, Kansas. A born-and-raised Michigander, Ms. Marr began her library career at Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in Midland, MI. Marr is an East Lansing native who earned her Masters in Library and Information Sciences degree from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Library Board President Judeen Bartos said that Marr impressed the board with her “many accomplishments at Morrill, her commitment to the library as an essential community center, and her overall management approach.”

Ms. Marr comments, “I am thrilled and humbled to be given this opportunity,” Marr said. “Ferndale is a diverse and vibrant community and the library is deeply rooted in it. I look forward to working with the amazing staff and Library Board to develop library services that are innovative and responsive to local challenges.

She added, “I think it’s easy to see how much Ferndale residents care about their community and I’m grateful to be invited to join it.”

The Reception starts at 12pm and goes until 2pm on Saturday, July 29 at Ferndale Library 222 E. 9 Mile Road, Ferndale.
