(Auburn Hills Fire Dept, July 9, 2017)

Residential Structure Fire – Sheffield Estates Mobile Home Community

At 10:00 AM on July 7, Auburn Hills fire personnel were dispatched to Warwick St. on a reported residential structure fire. Fire personnel arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the front windows of the residence. The fire was extinguished within minutes. Smoke and fire damage were contained to the front bedroom.

The residence was occupied at the time of fire. The fire was discovered when the male occupant opened the door to his bedroom seeing the bed and curtains on fire. Both adult occupants were able to exit the residence without injury.

The home did not have working smoke detectors. Auburn Hills investigators have determined that the cause of the fire was careless smoking.

No firefighters were injured during this fire. The Auburn Hills Firefighters Helping Hands Association will be providing assistance to the family.
