Ferndale Community Concert Band Tribute to Fathers June 18

(EVENT page)

The Ferndale Community Concert Band will perform their last concert of the 2016-2017 concert season on Sunday, June 18, 2017. This Father’s Day performance is titled, Salute to Our Fathers.

Ed Quick, artistic director and conductor and the almost 80 member band will collaborate with the band Knomadik (KNMDK) on a special piece of music. Other selections the band will perform are Canzona, Emblem of Unity, Hymn to The Fallen, music by John Williams, Proudly We Hail, Rosie the Riveter, and Tijuana Brass in Concert (A medley including: Spanish Flea, Whipped Cream, The Lonely Bull and Tijuana Taxi.)

Special guest musicians are The Knomadik (KNMDK) band which is led by world-renowned Detroit Saxophonist De’Sean Jones and L.A. Vibraphonist Chase Jackson. KNMDK is a powerhouse collective of pure animalistic creativity. By slipping between a multitude of influences and genres, KNMDK conveys a sonically visceral narrative that is as captivating as it is exhilarating.  (Source: KNMDK Promotional Picture of the band)
