Ferndale Police Looking for Robber of Checkers

Ferndale, MI – On Sunday, 04/30/17, Ferndale Police responded to the Checkers at 900 W. 8 Mile Rd. on report of an armed robbery in which the armed suspect fled on foot.
Two female employees reported that a man wearing a mask had just robbed them at gunpoint. The women reported the suspect had a black semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at them, and demanded the manager open the safe. She complied and gave him cash from the safe. The suspect then grabbed cash from one of the registers and ran out of the building. He ran north on Gardendale.
Officers were unable to find the suspect.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: All employees described a younger black male with brown eyes,
approximately 5’7″ wearing black pants, black shoes with white trim and a black Polo brand hoodie with white strings. A white Polo emblem was visible on the hoodie. A goatee was visible on the suspect as the mask was not covering his entire face.
