Southfield, MI. — Accomplished authors, investigative journalism, and integrity in medical reporting will be recognized by the Detroit Chapter of The Association for Women in Communications at the 2017 Matrix Awards, honoring achievement in communications. The annual awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 18, at Plum Hollow Country Club, located at 21631 Lahser Road, Southfield. The event, which is open to the public, starts at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner, awards and keynote address beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Jocelyn Benson is an expert on civil rights law, education law and election law and one of the youngest women in history to be inducted into the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame in 2015. Matrix Award winners include Joanne C. Gerstner (Headliner Award), Pat Anstett (Diamond Award) and Chastity Pratt Dawsey / Bridge Communications (Vanguard Award). Tickets are $60 for AWC-Detroit members, $70 for non-members, and $35 for students.
