Hazel Park, MI – The Hazel Park District Library is starting a Seed Library, which is a place where patrons can have vegetable, flower and herb seeds for their gardens.
“The mission of our seed library is to encourage our community to grow through gardening, increase knowledge, cultivate friendships and nurture healthy lifestyles,” says a flier for the event.
If people don’t have room in their gardens, they are invited to participate in the Kennedy Street Garden or the Merrill Street Garden. Coordinators of the community gardens will be on hand to share info.
The Seed Library grand opening will feature Ben Cohen, owner of Small House Farms. Cohen’s business specializes in cold pressed oils and other healthy products. He’s also been part of setting up seed gardens through the Midwest.
The event will be Saturday, March 4 from 1-3pm. Space is limited. Call 248-546-4095 to reserve a place.
