New Business and Business Moves in the Village of Holly

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 7, 2017)

Holly, MI – Change is in the air in Oakland County’s “up north” treasure.  The Village of Holly has been experiencing business growth in the past few years while still maintaining their historic small-town charm. Six months ago the community was recognized by Main Street Oakland County for their successes since joining the Main Street Program, filling to nearly 100% occupancy.

This growth continues in 2017 as businesses announce moves and openings.

Morgan’s Boutique – Morgan’s Boutique made the move from the Downtown strip to a larger location at 4048 Grange Hall Road, nestling between Radiant Sol Tanning and Subway.  Owner Nicole Kilpatrick told the Holly DDA that he’s excited about serving their many customers and to show off the new digs. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10-6. Closed Sunday. For information phone 248.328.1130.  Check them out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/morgansboutiuqe/

Bittersweet Café – Bittersweet Café has new owners.  The new owners of the Bittersweet Cafe were welcomed to Holly with a ribbon cutting by the Holly DDA and Chamber of Commerce late last month. New owners, Josh Truszkowski and Katherine Atto, are excited to welcome new and old customers with Sunday through Thursday hours of 8:30 – 4 pm and Friday and Saturday from 8:30 – 8 pm.  Takeout orders available at 248.328.0800.  Check out their website at http://www.thebittersweetcafe.com/.

Holly Antiques – Holly Antiques at 118 S Saginaw St has recently changed owners. The antique store will remain open and continue its emphasis on high-quality, authentic antique items with a variety of vendors. But there is also some re-arranging going on as part of the store is being cleared for a new addition that has not yet been announced.  A ribbon cutting will be held on Friday, March 31 at 5pm.  Stay tuned to find out more, and in the meantime check out Holly Antiques online at  http://hollyantiques.com.

Past Tense Books – Past Tense Books is looking forward to a move further down the street.  They’re giving up their current location for a bigger space up the street.  The current address is 109 S. Saginaw St. Holly 48442 and the new address will be 215 S. Saginaw St. Holly by March 1.  Owner Deanna Turner said “We are excited about our new location. We have out-grown our current location in the past two years. The new spot will afford us more opportunities for book signings, group activities, book crafts, seating areas, and of course, books!”  Check out their website at http://www.pasttensebooks.com.

Good Wood – The reason Past Tense Books is able to move to 215 S. Saginaw is because the former tenant, Good Wood, has also moved to a bigger space.  Aaron Mohr started Good Wood in the summer of 2015, making unique home furnishings and decor out of reclaimed wood.  The quickly outgrew their quaint Downtown Holly shop and moved to 414 N. Saginaw Street where they are open 7 days a week from 9am-5pm.  Check them out online at www.goodwoodmichigan.com.

Mission Point Specialty Care – The former Holly Convalescent Home location underwent an almost complete rebuilt to create Mission Point Specialty Care.  Located at 313 Sherwood St; Holly, Michigan 48442 this state of the art care center will help with short term rehabilitation for those recovering from accidents, surgeries and occupational injuries.  They can accommodate up to 66 patients at a time.  This project adds 75 new jobs to Holly, as well as will attract new visitors as folks come to visit loved ones.  There is no website yet for this new business.

Village Manager Jerry Walker is excited to see the growth of business in the community, as well as the loyalty.  “It says a lot that as businesses grow and need more space, that they chose to stay in Holly,” Walker said.
