Show Me the Money Day at YMCA to Teach about Finances Feb. 25

Royal Oak, MI – Community Housing Network (Troy) and Accounting Aid Society (Detroit) are pleased to announce that Show Me the Money Day will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Oakland Family YMCA (1016 W. 11 Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI 48067. The event will offer financial workshops and help participants connect with free income tax assistance, low-cost banking products, financial counseling, homebuyer education and other resources. Show Me the Money Day is completely free and open to the public.

This year’s event will feature and features a vendor café, workshops, food, games and prizes. Workshop presenters include DTE (Residential Energy Efficiency), Gleaner’s Food Bank (Cooking Matters: Eating Healthy on a Budget), and Community Housing Network (Home Buying and Down Payment Assistance Grants).

Show Me the Money Day is a statewide event in Michigan coordinated by the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM). To kick off tax season, local Show Me the Money Day events will provide Michigan residents free financial resource fairs and financial workshops and access to community-based programs that promote saving and asset building, post-secondary education and training and other opportunities to build financial security at tax time.
