2016 Candidate Interview Congressperson Sander “Sandy” Levin 9th District
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 6, 2016)
Roseville, MI – US Congressperson Sander “Sandy” Levin has been in Congress since 1983 and is running for re-election to the 9th District. He is being challenged by Republican Christopher Morse, Libertarian Matthew Orlando and Green Party Candidate John V. McDermott.
The 9th District includes several cities in Oakland County and Macomb County, including Beverly Hills, Berkley, Bingham Farms, Clawson, Ferndale, Franklin, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Madison Heights, Pleasant Ridge, and Royal Oak.
When asked why he’s running for re-election, Congressperson Levin said “I’m running because everything is at stake this election. Everything. All that we’ve worked for. And it’s critical that people vote. It’s critical that we carry the Presidency. And it’s critical that people really really believe that if we don’t vote, we’re going to lose more than our vote. We’re going to lose the progress that we’ve made. We’re going to lose tolerance in this country. We’re going to lose openness. So that’s why am running, because of all the elections I’ve been in, even when I was running for governor, I was totally involved. This is even more important than any election that anybody’s been in.”
In his interview with oc115, Congressperson Levin talked about trade issues, community anti-drug coalitions, and being in touch with the people he represents.
