Ferndale, MI – Como’s Restaurant has re-opened this week after being shut down by the Oakland County Health Department for repeatedly failing inspections.

Inspection reports obtained by Oakland County 115 News through a Freedom of Information Act request  showed ongoing problems including improper food storage, lack of handwashing access or supplies, flies and fly tape hanging over food prep areas, smoking inside food prep areas, expired food being served, dishes being sent through dishwasher without soap or sanitizer, and sewage dripping onto sleeves of to-go cups are among violations that continued even after the establishment was cited for it.

Como’s license was revoked on Sept 21, 2016 by the Oakland County Food Service Appeal Board.  In 2015 the Health Department had stepped in with stronger oversight that included buxbaum-admonthly inspections.  One the monthly inspections stopped, the unsanitary behavior began again, leading to the closure.

According to their Facebook page, Como’s is  offering 40% off beer, wine and appetizers from 3pm to 6pm daily.  An Oct 21 post states “With some major hurdles crossed, Comos Restaurant and Bar is back open! New inventory of food has been ordered, so only the Bar is open right now. Feel free to come get a drink and watch the Game! Stay tuned for more updates on soft opening and grand opening!! Your safety and more importantly your patience, has been greatly appreciated and thought of! Much love. #Stay Tuned : )))))”

Como’s is located at the corner of E. 9 Mile and Woodward in Ferndale.
