Ferndale Library Spooktacular: Superheroes v. Fairytales Oct. 29
(EVENT page)
Ferndale, MI – Ferndale Library staff are always an enthusiastic bunch when it comes to Halloween, opening after hours on the last Saturday of October to invite trick-or-treaters in for seasonal activities where you’ll find librarians incognito, matching a playful theme. This year, the Spooktacular embraces two of the prevailingly popular costume choices for most kids, Superheroes and Fairytales! Princesses and Hulks, Pixies and Batman, everyone can choose their own side and flourish the spirit of the season.
The Library’s SPOOKTACULAR is Sat., Oct. 29, starting at 6 pm with a drop-in trick-or-treating trail throughout the library. Candy stations and activity areas will begin closing down at 7:30 pm. There is no registration required and the event is open to all ages and members of all communities. Costumes, however, are highly encouraged.
Along with our trick-or-treating trail, kids and families can enter our photobooth for keepsakes of their costumes; there will also be a costume contest. Fairytale lovers can visit a make-your-own-magic-wand or pocket hero craft stations.
Librarian Ashley Lehman is Head of Youth Services, and this is her fourth year running Ferndale Area District Library’s annual Halloween event. The Ferndale resident has worked at the library for five years and has dreamt up a new, fun and inventive “theme” for each year’s party. While we went with “Star Wars,” last year, Lehman wanted to expand the theme to “Superheroes” and “Fairytales” to assure a diverse blend of opportunities for children to choose. Of course, all trick-or-treaters can dress up however they choose.
