Woman Shot Dead on Holly Area Front Lawn (Ongoing Story)

Rose Township, MI – A woman was found fatally shot on the front lawn of a home south of Holly in Rose Township.
Michigan State Police released the following:
Homicide Investigation: On July 30, 2016 at approximately 2 35 PM Detroit Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call that a female was on the front lawn of a residence on the 11000 block of Fish Lake Road and that she had been shot by an unknown individual. Troopers from the Metro North Post responded and the victim was transported to Genesys Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Troopers and detectives from the Second District Special Investigation Section are currently starting to canvas the area and gather evidence from the crime scene. Anyone who has information on this incident are asked to call 1 877 MICH-TIP.
UPDATE: Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police was on the scene Saturday evening. He confirmed that the victim is a 31-year-old female from Holly Township. She died of a gunshot wound and a homicide investigation is under way. There have not been any arrests in the murder.
When asked if neighbors should be concerned, he said “Often in cases like this the victim knows the person that did it. It is always a good idea to be diligent and report suspicious behavior, and keep doors locked. But we do believe this is probably someone that the victim knew and that neighbors are not in danger.”
UPDATE: As of Sunday afternoon, police have nothing new to report. Lt. Shaw said “I have nothing new. We are working leads and evidence from yesterday. I won’t be releasing the name today.”
UPDATE: Sunday at 5pm MSP released the following statement: “The Michigan State Police is continuing to investigate the homicide that took place last night in Rose Township. We are currently asking the publics assistance in locating anyone who may have seen a white or light colored four door sedan that was on Fish Lake Road between 2 and 3 PM yesterday. It is believed the vehicle may have been acting suspicious or traveling at a high rate of speed. Anyone with information about this vehicle are asked to contact State Police.”
UPDATE: Monday, Aug. 1 – Officials have identified the victim as Alexandra Nicollette Brueger, according to the Oakland Press. Brueger was working towards a graduate degree in creative writing and was a registered nurse at Providence Park Hospital. Police still do not have a suspect or a motive.
