(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 20, 2016)

Southfield, MI – Democratic Incumbent Jeremy Moss is running for re-election to be State Representative for the 35th District which includes Southfield, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Franklin and Lathrup Village.  He has been in office nearly two years.  Moss has no competition for the primary, but will face Republican Robert Brim on Nov. 8, 2016.

When asked how his position has been going, Moss said “It’s been a net positive experience.  It’s a little frustrating at times.  I represent a strong GT ad 04Democratic District and obviously Democrats are in the minority in the Michigan House of Representatives.  So there are times when we get pretty run over in terms of policy where they control all branches of government. So they have an idea it’s put up and enacted without much debates, so that’s a bit of a frustration at times.  But I’ve sought out partnerships where they can and do exists to get things done for my district…  When I come home I’m able to advocate for my residents in this community and that’s probably the most rewarding part of this job.”

Moss talked about his history of being involved in Southfield, including service on City Council.  He talked about being the Vice Chair of the House Local Governance Committee, helping Southfield get the ability to purchase the Northland Mall property so they could have some say in its redevelopment, increasing communication with constituents, fighting against oil drilling in the city and other ways that he has advocated for residents.
