Pontiac, MI – Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society is hosting the next installment of our Small Talk Lecture Series Sunday, April 17th @ 2p.m. RMS Titanic Presented by Larry Hathcock. Larry is a member of OCPHS, an avid historian and a former US Navy operator. He will examine various circumstances that lead to the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15th, 1912, resulting in the death of 1514 passenger and crew members. Even though the ship had valentine adthe latest up to date radio communications, why didn’t the captain know of the ice conditions in the Titanic’s path? Were the Marconi Company’s radio operators on the ship negligent in not keeping the captain informed? Were these operators more interested in sending passenger messages than receiving the latest ice reports?
