Oxford Man Dead, Others Injured, in Oxford Township Crash

(Oakland County Sheriff’s Dept, Nov. 10, 2015)

The Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a multi-vehicle, fatal crash that occurred on south bound Lapeer Rd south of Drahner in the Township of Oxford.  The crash occurred this morning at about 10:27AM.

Mr. Theodore Paul Turczyn, a 69-year-old, Oxford Twp. resident was killed this morning when the vehicle he was operating, a 1995 Jaguar, south bound on Lapeer Rd was struck head-on by a north bound 2014 Lincoln MKS.  The Lincoln was operated by a 75-year-old Oxford Twp. resident.

The driver of the Lincoln MKS was traveling north bound on Lapeer Rd south of Drahner.  The vehicle went left of center, crossing into the south bound lanes of Lapeer.  The Lincoln MKS struck the 1995 Jaguar head-on, pushing the Jaguar into a 2004 Dodge Caravan.  The Dodge Caravan was operated by a 17-year-old Oxford Twp. resident.

The occupants of the Lincoln MKS and the Jaguar were trapped in the vehicle.  Mr. Turczyn was pronounced dead on scene at 11:09AM.

The occupants of the Lincoln MKS, the driver and her husband, an 80-year-old Oxford Twp. resident, were extricated and transported to area hospitals via Oxford Twp. Fire.  The driver of the Dodge Caravan was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac via Addison Township Fire.

The driver of the Lincoln MKS was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont in Royal Oak and was being treated for her injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The front seat passenger of the Lincoln MKS was transported to McLaren-Oakland Hospital in Pontiac and is listed in critical condition.  The driver of the Dodge Caravan was being treated and expected to be released at St. Joseph Hospital.

All occupants were wearing seat belts.  Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.  The Lincoln MKS was involved in another crash south of the scene prior to this crash.  It is unclear at this time why the vehicle went left of center.
