Woman Found Dead Among Menagerie of Animals in Waterford Home

(Waterford Police Report, Oct. 2, 2015)

On October 1, 2015 at approximately 5:30pm, Waterford Officers responded to the 5000 block of Ridge Top Drive for a deceased person. Arriving Officers located a 47 year old female from Clarkston, deceased inside the residence surrounded by numerous animals including a bird, several cats and kittens, a dog, a guinea pig, a raccoon and several rabbits. The interior condition of the residence was uninhabitable with feces and urine throughout the residence.

Oakland County Animal Control was called to the residence to assist with removing the animals. The cause of death is not known at this time and the investigation remains open. Waterford Investigators will be working with Waterford Township Building Officials in an effort to improve the current condition of the residence. CRIME BLOTTER **UPDATE** 10/2/15, Investigators have identified the deceased 47 year old female as Tracey Woodcox from Waterford. Woodcox had just recently moved in to the residence prior to her death. The 55 year old Female homeowner who is cooperating with investigators told officers that she found Woodcox deceased in a bedroom when she returned home on 10/1/15.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an Autopsy on the deceased and ruled out foul play for the cause of death. Investigators anticipate receiving the toxicology report for Woodcox within 2 to 3 weeks. All animals in the residence were removed by the Oakland County Animal Control Division. This incident remains under investigation.
