West Bloomfield Firefighter Honored for Rescue (video)

Many gathered at the West Bloomfield Township Board Meeting on August 17, 2015 to support Firefighter Josh Lyon and share in the celebration of his heroism. The West Bloomfield Fire Department and the West Bloomfield Township Board honored Lyon for his tremendous act of bravery and skill.
On June 26, 2015 at 1:34 AM, the West Bloomfield Fire Department received a call about a residential fire on Cedarhurst Drive and that a woman, Claire, was trapped in the master bedroom. The first fire truck arrived on the scene at 1:40 AM and by 1:42 AM, Claire was rescued from her home due to the heroic actions of Firefighter Josh Lyon. Claire was quickly taken to the hospital for care and was released shortly after the incident.
On August 17, 2015 Firefighter Josh Lyon received the Meritorious Service Award for his heroism. Captain Charles Brodie and Lieutenant Derek Hewelt of the West Bloomfield Fire Department and Officer Jeffrey Maples of the West Bloomfield Police Department recount the extraordinary actions taken by Firefighter Lyon and the difference he made in this woman’s life.
