(press release, Sept. 5, 2015)

White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy will be hosting its
Eighth Annual Care Package Drive to provide “a little bit of home and comfort” to overseas military troops. White Chapel will be conducting a drive to collect new items for care packages that troops might ordinarily find in their homes back in Michigan. White Chapel is working with the Michigan Military Moms who will package the items collected and send them to overseas military personnel from Michigan.

The care package drive will take place from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Monday, September 7 through Friday, September 18, 2015 at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery at 621 W. Long Lake Rd. (west of I-75) in Troy in the Temple of Memories. A list of suggested items to donate can be found at www.WhiteChapelCemetery.com.

“Our troops are on the frontlines working hard to preserve our freedom,” said David R. Krall, vice president and general counsel of White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery. “It is very meaningful for our troops when they receive a DDAnew01care package from home. Southeast Michigan residents have been very generous donating items that the troops really appreciate. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of people come through our gates to support our troops. At White Chapel, we couldn’t be more proud of and thankful for the show of support from metro Detroiters for our brave heroes.”

Regarded as Michigan’s veterans’ cemetery, White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery is home to several veterans’ memorials, including the WWII Four Freedoms Memorial, inspired by President Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms. The Memorial is sculptured in imperishable marble in one of White Chapel’s most impressive memorials.
