(press release, May 8, 2015)

State Rep. Martin Howrylak invites local residents to his third annual Senior Brigade event with the Attorney General’s office to focus on helping seniors with a number of important issues.

The event starts at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at the Clawson Senior Center, 509 Fisher Court in seed9999AnnHeler_jan2016Clawson. The presentation this year will cover home repair and equity scams. The session reviews how to select and work with a contractor, how to understand reverse mortgages, and tips to recognize and avoid foreclosure scams.

“There are many useful resources available to senior citizens, but it can sometimes be hard to separate those from predatory scams and fraud,” said Rep. Howrylak, R-Troy. “This free event is about giving my constituents the right information and a guiding hand. I encourage all seniors in the 41st district to come to attend.”

There is no charge to the event and lunch will be provided. Resident looking for more information can contact Rep. Howrylak’s office by calling toll-free at 877-248-0001 or by emailing martinhowrylak@house.mi.gov.
