Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault Suspect Arrested in Royal Oak

On Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 6:30 a.m., Royal Oak police officers responded to the 1500 block of N. Washington and arrested 29-year-old Royal Oak resident, Jason Dale, for Unlawful Imprisonment, Felonious Assault, Aggravated Assault, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
Earlier that morning, a female victim walked into the police station with multiple apparent injuries. The victim reported she gave a friend a ride home from a local bar. During the drive they got into a heated argument. When they arrived at his residence, the suspect forced her from the car, dragged her into the basement, and destroyed her cell phone.
The victim was held against her will at the home for approximately five (5) hours. During this time, she was physically assaulted repeatedly. The suspect also held a knife to the victim’s throat, and at one point, armed himself with a rifle and discharged it inside the home. The victim feared that the Dale was going to kill her and repeatedly attempted to escape. The victim eventually talked the suspect into letting her go and drove immediately to the police station to report the incident.
On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, Dale was arraigned in the 44th District Court before the Honorable Judge Derek Meinecke. He is charged with Unlawful Imprisonment, a felony which carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison; Assault by Strangulation, a felony which carries a sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment; 2 Counts – Felonious Assault, a felony which carries a sentence of up to 4 years imprisonment for each count; Felony Firearm, a felony which carries a mandatory sentence of 2 years imprisonment; Malicious Destruction of Property $200-$1000, a misdemeanor which carries a sentence of up to 1 year imprisonment; and Domestic Violence, a misdemeanor which carries a sentence of up to 93 days imprisonment. Bond was set at $110,000.00, cash/surety no 10%. His next court date is set for May 8,, 2015 before the presiding judge.
