Man Murdered While Painting Apartment in Pontiac
(Oakland County Sheriff, April 26, 2015)
INCIDENT: 13:53 hrs. – City of Pontiac – Homicide Investigation. #15-61589
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to the 10 block of S. Mill Street on the report of a person who had been shot. Deputies searched the apartment building and located an apartment door that was ajar with a male subject lying inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. STAR EMS responded to the scene. The victim was transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland where he was pronounced deceased. Witnesses stated that the victim was a part-time maintenance man who was painting a vacant apartment. Witnesses gave the name of the suspected responsible that lives across the hall from where the victim was painting. Witnesses stated that they saw the responsible walk over to a dumpster located behind the building and discard an object, then the suspect walked north on Perry Street. The suspect was last seen wearing a white cap and a red coat. A semi-automatic pistol was located in the dumpster by Deputies The gun was reported stolen out of DeKalb County, Georgia.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: Detectives responded and began their investigation. OCSO Forensic Lab responded to process the scene. UPDATE: 00:40 hrs. – The suspect was located walking in the area of Saginaw St. and Lawrence by Deputies. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of charges by the Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 50 year old male, resident of Detroit.
SUSPECT INFORMATION: 41 year old male, resident of Pontiac.
